First time opening it: since this is a free tool from a small firm rather than a large paid product, we haven't bought a code-signing certificate yet — so Windows (SmartScreen) or Mac (Gatekeeper) will show an "unknown publisher" warning the first time you open it. That's expected: on Windows choose "More info" → "Run anyway"; on Mac, right-click the app → "Open" → confirm. This doesn't affect how the app works.

Install & open

Download and install for your OS. Tally Desk opens with all 18 tools built in — works even without internet.

Point it at Tally

Tally on this PC or your office LAN: enter the host/port from Settings. Tally on Cloud: use the Cloud Folder Sync mode — see FAQ below.

Auto-fill & go

Open any of the four Tally-linked tools and click "Auto-fill from Tally" — your live Trial Balance numbers drop straight in.

Your data

Nothing about your Tally data touches our servers

Tally Desk is a local app — it talks directly to Tally on your own computer or network. We don't run a server that stores, sees, or relays your accounting data.

Runs locally

Tally Desk reads your Trial Balance directly from Tally's own built-in export interface — the same one ODBC and accounting add-ons use. Nothing is sent to Aggarwal Abhishek & Co. or anyone else.

No open ports required

For Tally on your own PC or LAN, it connects the same way any local Tally-linked software does. For Tally on Cloud, it uses folder sync (Google Drive/OneDrive/Dropbox) instead of opening anything to the internet.

You stay in control

Auto-fill only ever populates the on-screen form fields you can see and edit — it never submits anything anywhere. Every number is yours to check before you rely on it.

I use Tally on Cloud (RDP) — will this work?

Yes, with one extra step. Most Tally-on-Cloud providers keep Tally's connection port closed to the outside world for security. Choose "Cloud folder sync" in Settings, and we'll walk you through installing a small helper on the cloud server that relays data via your Google Drive/OneDrive/Dropbox folder — nothing is ever opened to the public internet. Contact us and we'll help you set it up.

Is this safe to run alongside Tally?

Yes — it only reads data via Tally's own built-in export interface; it never writes to or modifies your Tally company data.

Do I need to keep the app open?

No — it minimises to the system tray and keeps syncing in the background. Click the tray icon any time to bring it back up.

Is it really free?

Yes, same as our web-based free tools — no sign-up, no payment. It's a convenience layer on top of tools we already give away.

Something isn't auto-filling correctly — who do I tell?

Please reach out with what looked wrong and, if possible, a screenshot — Tally's data layout varies slightly across versions and we'd rather fix a mismatch than have you second-guess a number.
